Preparing for the Audition. What Casting Directors are Looking for in your Self Tapes!
Due to the current government restrictions and state of COVID-19, LA is turning to strictly self tapes for the time being.
During this crazy time Harriet is kindly contributing more of her time than the original 3 hours she was originally scheduled for in order to make this class a special one!
CLASS DETAILS & FORMAT:
Before the Class:
Scenes will be sent to students before the class
Students are instructed to record their scene (like you would for a taped audition. iPhones are fine!)
Students will upload scenes to a dropbox account: Deadline is the day before the scheduled class at 12:00pm! (we will give you access to account!)
HARRIET WILL BE WATCHING SCENES PRIOR TO CLASS AND TAKING NOTES ON EACH ONE
Online Webinar :
Harriet will start with the same Intro talk with students as she would regularly in class. (Read “CLASS BREAKDOWN” below for more info)
She will work with each participant live through the webinar on the notes from the uploaded scenes. (This way actors are still getting real time re-direction and notes, as well as the other students are still able to watch and see the notes given!)
Closing talk with kids and parents (Q & A)
AFTER THE WEBINAR:
Actors record & upload scenes once more, implementing ALL notes from live session
Harriet will then view and take final notes on- progress, things to work on, etc. which will be emailed out to each person individually!
SOME CASTING CREDITS INCLUDE:
Webinar will cover:
Through activities, I will become more familiar with the actors, their personalities, sense of humor, energy and skill. l. Then, I begin with the steps they need to prepare, including how to make clear, strong choices that they can own. We incorporate everything we've learned so far, in preparing their material and work on over all strengthening the audition.
We will cover over all the ways they should prepare and feel comfortable with the scene in an audition situation both in the room with a Casting Director or for self tape situations which today is very common.
We will focus on:
Character analysis within the scene, with the emphasis on how to find the funny! (Because there is funny in EVERYTHING! )
How to incorporate who YOU are in the character you are playing.
How to memorize your lines easily
How your character works within the scene, the importance they bring, and what that means for the OTHER character
Behavior in the casting arena before you get into that casting office
What do you do after the audition?
Lastly, we will spend a moment at the very end of the class with the parents as well!
Answering questions and enlightening them on what we cover in the workshop. If we do parent time after the workshop, the kids discuss what they learned. Parents play a huge part in the career of the young actor.
